Great Expectations School Culture

Victory Place @ Coppell

One of my favorite things about working at my school is the fact that we follow the Great Expectations model for the culture of our school.

  • Saying, "Yes, ma'am" and "No, sir."
  • Using complete sentences
  • Cheering each other successes
  • Recognizing the use of life principles
  • Rich Vocabulary Development
  • And much more
The model holds both the learners and educators accountable. Once when I said something that was sarcastic, the learners quoted from the Eight Expectations for Living posted on the wall, "We will not laugh at or make fun of a person's mistakes nor use sarcasm or putdowns." What a great moment when the learners are understanding, living, and appreciating the norms in place in the classroom.

Here is the newsletter we get from our Liaison who guides our faculty and school to reach the Great Expectations Model designation. I look forward to earning the designation again this year.
