First Day Back at School after Winter Break

Sometimes it is a beating to come back from the winter break. Either the first day back is with your students (wherein you probably had to prepare over the break), or the school district decides to fill the staff development with meeting or a day of new learning (wherein you still had to prepare during your free time). 

Well, yesterday's return was a real treat. Not only was their not a rush to start right at 8 AM, but we had a quick meeting where we focused on what needed to get accomplished during day, and then we had time to plan with teammates, work on our own, rearrange our rooms and much more. 

We wrapped the day up with a follow up meeting to recap our progress, and then we were done a bit early. Now most of us stayed an hour or more longer, but it is nice to have control over what you do as an educator.

Thank you to the teaching gods who inspired our district and principal to make the first day back productive and meaningful for all stakeholders.
